An understanding of the role of each player is an important part of the team performance. This is defined as

Role Clarity - Role Acceptance - Role Performance

Translated this means that you have to understand what you should do (and should not do), accept that part of playing in that position and than performing the tasks related to that role. Everybody should feel responsible to perform his task. It is your task as a coach to help players identify their tasks.
