Topic review - So many rules.....

Yes, the number of rules a pretty overwhelming, I can understand that you have difficulty. Another problem is we keep changing them.....

I think these are the most important three rules (and they have stayed much the same all the time):

1. Where to score? We do not have a goal but a whole try area covering the full width of the pitch. These means the defenders have spread themselves to cover. It is your job as an attacker the stretch the defense so you can easily penetrate it. This is all about creating space.

2. Not passing forward, offside. Because you are not allowed to throw forward you are pretty much useless if you are in front of the ball (carrier). Off-side rules are also important for the defenders. Basically attackers and defenders have to stay on their side of the ball.
Why is this important: you always have to face the defense, carry the ball forward to score.

3. Contest for the ball. If you are tackled, you have te release the ball, do not lay on top of it or keep it close to you. This rules makes sure that you can win/loose possesion of the ball at the tackle.

If you start playing with these three rules in mind, the game will become much easier for you! Good luck.
