Under 13's a great age to instill basic skills into them.old enough to learn but young enough to have not picked up bad habits.
My five areas for this age group that I would use are
1) Passing and catching-
The basics of the game. Learn them to catch and pass correctly with style, relaxation and purpose. I used to use a TENNIS BALL to improve hand to eye co-orination, but still encouraged the players to pretend it was a rugby ball ,and the style and purpose had to be there.
2) Defence
Includes tackling skills (head on,side and from behind.) Positioning of the players when in a defensive formation ,learning to put pressure on the team in posession and what is a vital part of any defence COMMUNICATION.
3)Ball retention
Collecting the ball of the ground, recovering or smothering any lost ball, correcting the faults why the ball was lost. Individual ball handling skills so that the football becomes part of their enviroment.(as many balls as possible out on the field)
4)Team communication.
Players need to be able to read what their team mates intend, again communication and understanding of everyones style of play. The more ball work that is done as a unit the better the players will be able to read each others game and therefore improve as a team.
5) ENJOYMENT
This is very important. Make the sessions as enjoyable and varied as possible.Young players need to be able to look forward to going to the coaching sessions. The same old routine week in week out often discourages them from attending or training with enthusiasm. Knowing that each session will be different and not what to expect keeps the keen and eager to learn new ideas and skills,
Good luck!!

Hello, basic stuff is of course passing - tackling - picking the ball up from the ground. I still do these things :!:

Another thing I do regularly is basic fitness drills: push-ups, dribble, sit-ups, etc....

Perhaps you can make a plan where you plot the basics against your calendar to keep track of how you differentiate.
