I have used the special mat with cord that is attached to a belt you put on. Now there are all sorts of fancy contact mats, computing the height of the jump from your hang-time. The DIY version is pulling a cord attached to your waist through a fixed loop. Measure the difference between before and a...

The defensive role of the no.8 is defending next to the maul/ruck, be part of the defensive line - rugby league style. Less running (horizontally) across the pitch.

Good luck, some of the rugby greats were no.8's

Could not agree more.... On the other side of this argument: what if the player does not have the social background of a stable family environment? Would it be worth the effort?

Hello, we have a large squad and I have lots of help. Sometimes though, I am on my own and feel that I am going through the motions and am not really improving the skills of the players.

What is your top tip?

This week we decided to pull the plug on the team: we felt most of the players did not want to continue and put the hard work in. Those players who are willing we move to the development squad.
Thanks for the inspiring discussion Martin...

Seem to be based on support play and dummy runners. The All Blacks have such a great skill in ball-presentation in contact that they can keep t...

Hi Martin, thanks for the advise sofar but we are now considering splitting the team up during part of the training sessions, bringing better together with the Development squad from our club. With this we hope to keep the better players intersted while having morre time with lesser players.
