Hello,
There is a book on the topic which I discuss in my Market Place section.... But this is briefly what I do: Rugby is Confrontation - how badly to I want to score or stop the player with ball charging towards me?
Looking from this perspective: do you give your players the confidence to do the right thing? The right skills? Training gives confidence. I believe that every training should have a physical element in it. End your session with gamelike situation. Full-on contact in a small grid.
The only fitness I do without a ball is 150 meters. Start in one corner - run along the sideline at 75% pace. When reaching the other corner sprint towards the post. This is where I am urging the players to finish. Players always seem to underestimate the first part and really have to go for it in the last bit. Again, confrontation....
This is also way I see a limited use of tackle bags or contact gear. Learn to feel the pain.....
So mental toughness is part of everything you do with the team.
Questionaires? the main question is: are you there when you need to put your body on the line
