Hello,

Do you know of any test that reflects the players ability to move quickly and change direction? Feel like the Shuttle Run is not really reflecting this aspect,

Bob

Bob, I had the same need last year. I feel that the SAQ programmes I conduct are effective because I can see that the players are moving better. But I also would like to see this proven through some sort of test. I have found the Salom Sprint and Dribble test of good use. It is devised for hockey and soccer players because it takes dribbling with a ball into account. The test was developed by the Rijks Universiteit Groningen, they use it for their work with talented hockey players and the academies of two premier league soccer clubs in the Netherlands.

I substituted the dribbling with carrying a ball. Carrying a ball does reduce speed and agility!

I have put the material on my website, will add my results later.

Hope you can use it for your personal situation!
